My early work in the few years following graduation from college is varied and experimental. Most of the work is acrylic on board or canvas, with some works on paper. Landscape themes and imagery still prevail, even in these earliest more abstract works, heavily influenced by the simplified organic shapes and wandering lines of John Olsen, and those wonderful Brett Whiteley and Lloyd Rees curves. This was a great learning period, albeit sporadic as I juggled various other jobs and responsibilities, including the wonderful adventure of motherhood and parenting very young children. The artwork is distinctly joyful and exuberant. Examples of the work can be found below.
